REST-USAID PARTNERSHIP IN DEVELOPMENT
Background
REST’s relationship with USAID began during the 1980s. USAID has been consistently supporting REST, both in the areas of emergency and development assistance, initially through the cross-border operation and then, after the downfall of the military regime, the Agency channeled Title II emergency resources through the Catholic Relief Services. In the FY 1994, a regular program for FFW activities were initiated under the name Multi Year Operational Program (MYOP) in cooperation with the CRS and continued to the end of FY 1995 under a recipient agreement. However, in FY 1995, the USAID Mission, CRS and REST have developed a joint proposal for strengthening the institutional capacity of REST and REST became a direct cooperative sponsor for Title II resources.
Since 1996 REST with the financial and technical assistance of USAID has been accomplished a substantial amount of development and emergency work where almost all the project packages were implemented with almost 100% degree of target achievement.
