Planning and Coordination Department

The planning aspect in an organization is a critical element to ensure optimal utilization of resources. This encompasses identification of areas and needs that deserve priority and hence qualify for the investment of the scarce resources including capital, labour, and time, before others. Putting activities and corresponding resources on temporal and spatial framework to smooth the implementation process so that it can easily be monitored and evaluated is also one important component of the planning process.

The planning and coordination department handles all these fundamental aspects in the whole development endeavor of the organization. Preparation of project proposals with inputs of various stakeholders is one basic assignment of the department. Designing operational plan, follow up on implementation of programmes and the same handles preparation of reports on status. Conducting monitoring and evaluation of activities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of performances is the third major component of planning.

Moreover, gender desk is established under the planning and coordination department to handle gender aspects as an integral component in the whole development efforts of REST. Follow up on the programmatic for their being gender sensitive and conducting various awareness creation training are among the major activities to be carried out in the year 2006.
Supply with the necessary documents for the various departments and services of the organization are expected from the library and documentation section of the department.

In the mean time capacity building for sector offices and programme related training to stakeholders is considered as one important factor to upgrade performances in terms of their quantity and quality. Hence, different trainings are planned.
