The overall objectives:

    • Provision of important information for understanding problems and making decisions about environment and allocation of resource.
    • Ensuring fast, integrated flow of information through establishing a central database to be used by internal and external network system of the organization.
    • To create competent staff through provision of exposures to information Medias and for new technologies in sustainable base.

    Because of Geo-positioning, to some extend global climate variability and poor resource utilization and management; Tigray is affected frequently by extremely erratic rainfall. In addition to these less and variable rainfall, high erosion, low level farming technology are also another serious problem, which causes, drought and poor usages and database management.

    To avert such problems REST is actively participating in the development programs of rural areas. Therefore to improve the efficiency of the staff, as whole, organizational input in the development program, REST needs a new technology to ensure successfulness benefits of poor people.

    Thus GIS (Geo information system), RS (Remote Sensing) and DBMS (Data base management System) are best tools to design a system and to provide appropriate information for discussion makers and experts in the area of environmental and resource management, development planning and other research works.

    To fit with the global competitive environment; access to information play significant role in keeping in advance with competitors. Internet is becoming the world information swimming pool and the good swimmers are highly benefited in information. To be part of the system REST have established and line up all the needed infrastructures to capacitate the staff to exchange information in glowing style along with REST and partners.
